Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16K Review: Big, Sharp Resin Printing
A 10-inch 16K resin printer with tilt release and a heated tank. What it gets right for miniatures and fine parts, and the mess and fumes that come with resin.

Resin printers cure liquid photopolymer layer by layer with UV light shone through an LCD. The pixels on that screen set the detail. The Saturn 4 Ultra 16K has a 10-inch, 16K screen at 14 x 19 µm per pixel. That is miniature-painter and jewellery-master territory.
What it gets right
- Detail. At 14 x 19 µm, surface texture and fine features resolve in a way FDM layer lines cannot.
- A usable volume. 211.68 x 118.37 x 220 mm is large for resin, enough for a batch of figures or a tall part.
- Tank heating. Resin turns thick and prints badly in the cold. The built-in heater keeps it at temperature, which matters in an unheated workshop.
- Tilt release. The tank tilts to peel each layer off the film rather than hauling the plate straight up. That is gentler and faster.
- Protection. A mechanical sensor detects foreign objects before the plate crushes them into the LCD, and warns when resin runs low.
What resin asks of you
This applies to every resin printer, not just this one. Uncured resin is a skin sensitiser and gives off fumes. You need nitrile gloves, a ventilated room, and somewhere to wash and cure prints. Read FDM vs resin before choosing resin at all.
The Saturn has no built-in carbon filter. Some rivals, like the Anycubic M7 Pro, offer one.
Faults reported
- Live camera monitoring only works through Elegoo’s slicer.
- Some early units shipped with a loose tilt assembly that knocked during the peel. Check the screws on arrival.
- Reviewers say drips land on the machine unless the drip tray is in use, and one reviewer’s tray broke during testing.
Against the alternatives
The Anycubic Photon Mono M7 Pro is similar in size, with automatic resin refill. The Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra is the smaller, cheaper way in.
What works
- 16K screen at 14 x 19 µm XY resolution resolves detail that FDM printers cannot get near
- The tank heater warms the resin, which keeps prints consistent in a cold garage
- Tilt release peels each layer off the film more gently and quickly than a straight lift
- The camera, Wi-Fi and foreign-object detection protect the LCD from a stray cured blob
What doesn't
- No built-in carbon filter, so it needs a ventilated room away from anyone sensitive
- Live camera monitoring needs Elegoo's own slicer
- Reviewers report early units with a loose tilt assembly that knocks during the peel
